Rules and Regulations

Last updated: September 2026

These Rules and Regulations apply to all learners of Hami Educational College. They have been developed to create a safe, respectful and purposeful learning environment and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. All learners — and their parents or guardians — are expected to read these rules carefully and to abide by them at all times.

1. Maintain good conduct

Learners must behave responsibly, respectfully and honestly at all times, both inside and outside the school. Bullying, fighting, cheating, theft, dishonesty and any behaviour that damages the school's reputation are prohibited.

  • Be courteous to all members of staff, visitors and fellow learners;
  • Follow staff instructions promptly; and
  • Use English on the school premises.

2. Attend school regularly and be punctual

Attendance at all lessons and school activities is compulsory, and learners must arrive before lesson start times.

  • Obtain a late slip from the office if you arrive late;
  • Provide written justification from a parent or guardian for any absence; and
  • Remain on the school premises during school hours unless officially released.

3. Follow classroom rules

  • Be orderly, respectful and prepared for lessons;
  • Complete assignments on time and avoid disruptive behaviour;
  • Raise your hand and wait to be called upon before speaking; and
  • Eating, drinking, chewing gum and plagiarism are not allowed.

4. Wear the correct uniform and maintain proper appearance

  • School uniform must be clean, neat and worn correctly;
  • Boys must maintain acceptable haircuts;
  • Girls must wear the black hijab and black dress; and
  • Excessive hairstyles and jewellery are prohibited.

5. Pay school fees on time

  • Fees must be paid termly and on schedule;
  • The school may revise fees with at least one month's notice; and
  • Absence cannot be used as an excuse to avoid fee payment.

6. Observe Islamic and mosque regulations

Muslim learners must attend prayers at the designated times and respect Islamic conduct requirements. Inappropriate interactions and misuse of mosque facilities are prohibited.

7. Protect school property and maintain cleanliness

  • Care for school facilities and learning materials, and report any damage;
  • Avoid vandalism in any form and keep the environment clean;
  • Use designated facilities appropriately and return library books on time;
  • Refrain from bringing hazardous items to school; and
  • Report illness promptly to a member of staff.

8. Do not bring or use unauthorised electronic devices

Mobile phones and personal electronic devices are not allowed unless specifically authorised. Unauthorised devices may be confiscated and returned only through parents or guardians, or destroyed.

9. School reporting times

Full-time students must observe the daily school timetable. Part-time students should follow the schedule for their programme as communicated by the school office.

  • Students report to school at 7:00 am;
  • Lessons begin at 7:20 am;
  • Break time is 30 minutes, between 10:30 am and 11:00 am;
  • Lunch time is 1 hour 20 minutes, between 12:40 pm and 2:00 pm; and
  • Students leave school at 5:20 pm.

This time schedule applies to full-time students only.

10. School diary

Every student has a school diary. Students must submit their diaries to their class teachers or the teacher on duty for comments and signing.

Before bringing the diary back to school, make sure your parent or guardian checks, comments and signs it.

11. Participate responsibly in school activities

Learners involved in clubs, sports and competitions must attend regularly, follow the activity rules and uphold the school's reputation. On excursions, field trips and off-site activities, learners remain subject to these rules and must obey the supervising staff at all times.

12. Do not possess prohibited items

Items such as phones, makeup kits, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, gambling materials, pornography and unauthorised materials are strictly forbidden and may result in suspension or expulsion.

13. Comply with disciplinary procedures

Rule violations may result in warnings, detention, extra duties, suspension, parental involvement or expulsion, depending on the severity of the offence. Learners are entitled to a fair hearing before serious disciplinary action is taken.
